Kirsten lives by the river and keeps chickens, so Egyptian geese, swans, ducks, moorhens, and all the other wild birds are a big feature in the garden. The two nest paintings were inspired by a nest, which fell from a tree during a storm with high winds. The nest was not in use at the time, but it had clearly had very precious contents at some stage! The pieces were painted on the outside of a champagne box to represent the idea of fragile contents.. the ‘twigs' are lines of text describing eggs and nesting habits.
